The Sleepy Shepherd Boy

Originally written for the CBSO Children's Chorus, and first performed by them in Symphony Hall, Birmingham, with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, this light-hearted piece describes a day-dreaming shepherd boy, who suddenly finds himself drawn into the Christmas story. It has also been performed by a youth chorus in Liverpool, accompanied by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, and by children's choirs in Portugal, Canada and the USA. It has been warmly received by performers and audiences on all occasions. The song works equally well with just piano accompaniment, as it is here presented. As this piece seems to have proved a popular choice for Christmas/holiday concerts, I've made this arrangement for SATB (no divisi), to extend its potential usefulness.
