During my first semester at the University of New Hampshire, I was struggling to finish this work that I was asked to compose for the symphonic band on campus. Katherine Cabaup, the other graduate student, encouraged me to go for a walk to clear my mind, and because the weather was shifting between the warm fall toward the freezing winter, I decided to take her advice.
The title of this works comes from that walk. As I was walking around exploring campus, I happened to stop and stare over to a stream of water that was flowing under the bridge I was standing on. The simplicity of that moment is something I thought back on as I was finishing this work.
