Traditionally played on solo bugle, The Last Post is played to mourn the dead and to honor those who lost their lives in wars and battles. Lest we forget.
This version is untraditional in that the main melody line is played on violin, and accompanied by other melancholy notes played on violin 2 and 2 cellos. 
This arrangement, by Sarah Moir from The String Family, is also available for string quartet.

String Orchestra Score & Parts

Perfect for a beginner ensemble of string players who are still becoming comfortable on their instruments and are just starting to read music. 
Incorporating scales in some parts and mostly open strings in others, this piece also introduces dynamics and pizzicato. 

A piano part is included as an optional addition, however it is not necessary for a great sounding ensemble. The Solo Violin and Cello 2 parts are more advanced and may be suitable for a tutor or advanced student to play along.

Skye Boat Song (Outlander Theme)

2 Violins, Viola, Cello Quartet

Traditionally played by solo bugle, The Last Post is a call that is sounded at military funerals to indicate that the soldier has gone to his final rest and is also played at commemorative services such as Anzac Day and Remembrance Day. Lest We Forget.
This version, for string quartet, was arranged for The String Family by Sarah Moir and combines the poignant solo line, played by the violin, with sombre drones played by the other members of the quartet.

An arrangement of the beautiful work by Mendelssohn for ensemble with varying skill level. Very easy parts to moderately difficult. Guitar Ensemble and String Ensemble can be played independently of each other. When played together with string ensemble &amp; guitar ensemble guitar 4 should not be played.
