The Vikings of Iona

Taking modal inspiration from early monastic works, this powerful entry into the young band canon features plenty of percussion and exciting moments that are sure to electrify any audience! Known as the birthplace of Celtic Christianity in Scotland, the Iona Abbey fell under Viking attack. Three chimes at the beginning and the modal melody that follows represent the spirituality of the monks, while the fast section, complete with metallic sounds of clashing swords, depicts the Viking onslaught.
