This 12th-century Irish carol begins with singing bells and a delicate chime tree supporting the freely played melody. When percussion enters, the carol becomes more rhythmically steady through the use of a repetitive malleted bass line and resembles a slow processional. An upper treble countermelody is introduced while the melody and bass lines are played by optional handchimes (3-6 octaves.) The conclusion is much like the beginning, with singing bells and chime tree that gradually fade away. This haunting, gentle arrangement is fitting for either worship or concert. The percussion parts are included in the full score.
