The Winged Serpent

The composer wrote this piece to give his band experience with chromatic music. This edgy work spins a musical picture of the Mayan feathered serpent god and uses minor seconds and trombone glissandi to help give the piece a slithering sound. Portraying the mythical serpent who flew to the sun and burned its tongue, it's an exciting, well-written work.
