The Zinger is a swinger for the pro level band scored for five saxes (AATTB), five trumpets, five trombones, piano, guitar, bass and drums. If only eight brass are available, it will still sound fine. The 1st trumpet range goes up to the high E-flat above the staff once, and also has several high Ds. This chart is for groups with jazz skills and a will to swing hard. It should be played at a moderately fast tempo. There are two solo sections, and chord changes are in many parts for maximum flexibility. The jazz solo sections are easily opened up. Playing time can run between 5:00 and 8:00 minutes depending on how many soloists you feature. This chart was recorded by the Clark Terry and the SWR Big Band.
