They are Gone is a song about accepting the death of a loved one in a
personAs life. I wrote this piece after my friend, who was a firefighter,
died while on duty; he was only 24 years old. I dedicate this to my father,
who is also deceased. The piece is to be sung a cappella with an SSAATBB
chorus. The work is at an easy-intermediate level. At the end of the piece,
there should be whispered names of deceased people being said by the members
of the choir.
The text was AwrittenA by Elizabeth Ammons however when I wrote to her
for permission to use her work with intent to publish, she replied by saying
that she did not write this poem. I have not been able to find another
Elizabeth Ammons who wrote this poem, therefore it could be assumed that this
text was written anonymously and whoever wrote it falsely credited her name.
