Third String Quartet

Carter Pann's Third String Quartet is an 18-minute suite of four atmospheric tangos, which the composer suggests may be accompanied on stage by authentic tango dancers. The darkness and mysterious teasing of tango style blend with Pann's contemporary voice in varying ways throughout the four contrasting movements. Enticing colors and gestures span the spectrum from light to dark, while the aromas tend toward the sinister.
