This piece for wind quintet presents three Korean folk songs seldom, if ever heard in North America: Hangangsu (On the Han River); Sarangga (Love Song) and Monggumpo Taryong (Joy and Sorrow of Fishermen). All are presented in an upbeat mood and incorporate Korean harmonies as much as possible. After all three are presented, they are found intermingled in the joyous final section of the piece which closes on a happy, but much softer tone. Each instrument has its share of melodic material and everyone gains experience in playing overlapping syncopations.
