This sublime new look at beloved texts employs an economy of choral writing. The SATB choral texture is shaded by sections of unison writing, with some brief points of a cappella writing and divisi. The innovative approach to the text utilizes a question-and-answer format with the question sung in a subdued fashion and the answer intensifying in range, complexity, and volume. The piano and flute parts provide an underlying momentum.
