Toccata

Spanish cellist and composer Gaspar Cassadó (1897-1966) composed this famous Toccata in 1925. It was later transcribed for orchestra by Hans Kindler and for band by Earl Slocum. This arrangement builds upon Kindler’s famous orchestral version and provides an accessible, unabridged edition for intermediate concert band. It is scored for less experienced ensembles and allows this work to be played by smaller bands (even with missing instruments) while still sounding full.
