Celebrate Christmas with a duet for your younger instrumentalists. Both players get a chance to shine with the melody. The piece begins with a short introduction, then the first part plays the U.S. traditional "Mueller" melody with the second part providing accompaniment. There is a brief transition in measure 21, then the second part takes over the Mueller melody. The first part switches to an accompaniment role, but in measure 27 begins playing the "Cradle Song," which is a version often heard in England. Both voices take turns with their respective melodies and accompaniments, bringing both melodies together from measure 43 to the end.

"All Things Right and True" celebrates the human spirit and
  desire for good. The piece begins with a broad fanfare, answered with an
  exultant chordal line. From there, it moves into its initial stately theme.
  The theme repeats, this time including a call and response with a second
  voice.
    
    As with all life, however, peace and calm turn into chaos and hardship.
  Weaving lines and punctuated notes create stress and discord. But soon, all
  voices move toward agreement and usher in the majestic, slow theme. It brings
  about hope, signifying beauty and togetherness. The theme repeats with the
  addition of a soaring descant. 
    
    From there, we hear a slow but hopeful transition, which leads toward an
  abbreviated recapitulation of the opening fanfare. The stately theme then
  returns, followed by a brief coda and a triumphant ending.

They're big, they're strong, they're smelly. Trolls have a certain reputation in stories. When one arrives near town, it may sound a bit jarring! "The Troll Arrives" features interplay between the soloist and the piano accompaniment and introduces tonalities that, at first, may not be what the listener expects. Alto Sax Solo with Piano

Inspired by the dance scene between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in the 1995
  BBC adaptation of "Pride and Prejudice," I arranged and composed a
  set of ten English dances. The title derives from the use of
  "maggot" to describe a favorite or fancy. Many thanks to Cecil J.
  Sharp for notating these tunes in the early 1900s so that later generations
  could enjoy them.
    
    
    
    For clarinet quartet (3 Bb, 1 bass). These miniatures are suitable for many
  occasions, such as dinner background music or prelude/postlude music at a
  wedding. They are flexible in presentation and instrumentation. Optional
  parts are included for Eb, alto, and 4th Bb.

Stately and majestic, "August Park" begins with a fanfare. From there, it moves into the first section, with the first part taking the melody and the second part providing harmony and occasional calls back to the fanfare.

The middle section goes into a slower, reverential melody in the second part, with the first part now providing accompaniment.

After a nod to the opening fanfare, the theme from the first section returns with a few modifications.

Suitable for solo and ensemble contests, recitals, and other concert performances.

Prelude and Fugue No. 1

"(Re)Groove" began as a compositional exercise exploring the use of an ostinato. I had fun with my original piano version and have since wanted to expand the piece into something more. I wasn't sure how or when that would happen.

When the opportunity arose to write a piece for the Chimera Consort, a trombone quartet, I knew this would be the place to expand my ostinato project.

And so "(Re)Groove" was born. While the original ostinato forms the basis for the piece, I added more thematic material and structure. The title reflects the recycled nature of the piece. Fittingly, "Re" also happens to be the symbol for Rhenium, which is "... a silvery-gray, heavy, third-row transition metal in group 7 of the periodic table" (Wikipiedia).

While I have indicated some effects (i.e. scoops, falls), the performers may view those as improvisational and adapt them as desired.

The season of spring, at least here in the Midwest, is full of contradictions. It is windy and chilly one day, and beautiful and sunny the next. The first section represents the stormy side of spring. The sun appears in the middle section to brighten things up, the second voice taking over the melody. The storms reappear for the final section, reminding us that summer has not yet come. Suitable for solo and ensemble contest.

Saxophone Duet alto sax and tenor sax

Originally derived from a Ukranian folk tune, Mykola Leontovich composed
  "Shchedryk" for choir in 1916. It depicts a swallow arriving to
  tell the household of the arrival of spring and good fortune for the next
  year. The original folk song was often sung as a "well-wishing"
  song at the new year (January 13th on the Julian calendar). The song is often
  referred to as the "Ukranian Bell Carol."
    
    
    
    After the song was performed in the United States in 1921, a prominent
  choir director wrote new lyrics that reflected a Christmas scene, inspired by
  the bell-like tones in the song. This version has remained popular in the
  U.S.
