Toward the Splendid City

Originally commissioned by the New York Philharmonic, it was written as a musical love letter to all of New York City's "wonderful and terrible things." It's an eight-minute wild ride full of musical imagery of the city skyline, bridges and tunnels, bawdy and brash nightlife and more. Brassy bursts of color and surges of notes are abundant in this wind band tribute to the vitality of this dynamic city.
