Opening with a dramatic cadenza for solo trumpet, this tribute to one of the greatest trumpeters of all time breaks into a solid jazz/rock style and proves to be an approachable solo trumpet feature for your rising star. It's chock-full of the styles, showmanship and drama that reminds us of Maynard's contribution to the world of jazz and trumpeting. The ranges are reasonable, but we're sure your soloist will want to show off a bit and take some of the sustained notes "up."  The solo trumpet part is entirely notated and there is a section where some ad lib choruses are possible for trumpet and alto sax parts.  Highly recommended!
