Composed as a tribute to the great John Coltrane, this is an accessible medium swing chart based on the characteristic Coltrane chord progression of ascending minor thirds, as used in Giant Steps. The arrangement is targeted for younger players with a written-out trumpet solo and plenty of unisons throughout. The rhythm section parts are clearly notated. It's playable with an optional limited instrumentation of 4 saxes, 3 trumpets, 2 trombones and 3 rhythm. Optional parts are included for expanded instrumentation.
