Tuba Mirum from the Requiem in D Minor, K. 626 by W. A. Mozart, arranged for trombone and euphonium/baritone duet with piano. Tuba Mirum is part of the Dies Irae of the Requiem mass. The trombone solo that begins the Tuba Mirum is one of the most important solos for trombone in the orchestral literature. It appears on nearly every tenor trombone audition – whether for college or professional symphony orchestras. The euphonium, not used in the orchestral score, takes the part of the solo bass voice. Included with this arrangement are trombone parts in tenor clef and in bass clef, a euphonium part (bass clef) and a baritone T.C. (euphonium double), and the piano accompaniment.
Written in the last months of his life, Mozart’s Requiem in D Minor has achieved almost mythic status as one of classical music’s great works, despite the fact that he did not live to see it to completion. Mozart's wife asked Franz Süssmayr to finish the piece shortly after the composer’s death. Since then, many others have stepped in to put the piece in playable form. Most of the articulations and dynamics in this arrangement are not included in the handwritten score but are taken from other editions that have become prominent over time.
This arrangement is also available for Tenor Saxophone and Baritone Saxophone Duet with piano. The saxophone duet parts may be played with the brass duet in any combination desired, so long as both parts are covered.
