Turkish Fragments

A richly melodic suite highlighted by distinctly oriental musical characteristics. Four movements make up the suite: Caravan, reminiscent of steady travel over a sea of sand; At Rest, which is both tranquil and lively; Night, serenely flowing in nature with a slight air of mystery; and Festival, dance-like and exuberant. Material from folk music of the Turkish region is combined with a wide pallet of instrumental colors to weave an exotic tapestry uniquely intriguing in its appeal.
