Two Movements from Quarantine, nicknamed the "Quarantine
Quartet," was written in March and April of 2020, when schools were
closed and we all went into isolation. As a composer, I knew I had to leave
my mark on such a historical event. This piece was based off of the chaos,
confusion, fear, and sadness of the events of 2020. Andante is a slow and
dissonant elegy, which was inspired by an evening walk down an empty street.
The movement takes a turn halfway through, where a bright tune, the length it
takes to wash your hands, is introduced. The Scherzo is a fast, energetic
movement, and was inspired by the energy built up from being forced to stay
inside for days on end.
