The Swedish texts for Triptyk (Triptych) and Morkbla tillit (Dark Blue Trust) were written by hospital chaplain and author Kerstin Dillmar. In her line of work, she often meets people who walk in the shadow of death, and her dealings with this subject are a central part of her writing. Jansson's intention with the music in Morkbla tillit was to enhance the feeling of comforting trust portrayed by the message that we will be safe and secure after passing away in sleep. In Triptyk, however, the message describes a journey within a person in three stages which moves from despair through to hope and faith that God is within. The music depicts these stages, starting with a dark, searching tonality, then describing the simple beauty of trust, moving to a joyful expectation of hope ending with a strong conviction. Perform in either Swedish or English.
