Improvisational Quartet for Nigerian Udu Drums, based on authentic Nigerian musical traditions. The Udu Drum is a special type of West African drum that was developed from clay pots by women who were not allowed to play other traditional drums. Udu drums produce very unique, resonant tones.
Authentic Udu drums are made of clay, but there are several manufacturers producing synthetic instruments that are perfectly acceptable for this quartet and probably more practical for school use.
