The ideas for this piece came from taking my dog, Loki, on walks through the woods in Maine down to the bog at the edge of the property. On these walks we would hear and see squirrels, chickadees, morning doves, and other small animals. These animal sounds were the inspiration for and are incorporated into the piece along with a tropical bird and emperor penguin call. The piece transformed while writing it from a piece about nature and corruption of nature into a reflection on a day in the life of someone who is deeply anxious and uncomfortable. The piece begins with a modified version of the tune from Grieg's Morning Mood and ends with the word "Uncomfortable" spelt out in morse code.
