Text based on an untitled haiku by Japanese poet Shido comes to life in this new choral piece about the haunting beauty of a dark ocean illuminated only by the light of the moon. As the piece ebbs and flows, the fear of an unknown presence grows and grows to a climax before settling back down "beneath the waves." This a cappella setting is sure to leave an impact on listeners as the cultural fear of these beautiful sea creatures is juxtaposed with the different idea that all nature is beautiful.
