Valzer

"Valzer" is a novel encore written for soprano voice and piano. It was composed on emergency notice for a series of recitals. On the first night of Barbara Wester Skipworth's performance, the composer, at the piano, challenged the audience to identify its 25 plus operatic and art song references, with a steak dinner as reward. The composer's friend and noted musicologist, Reinhard Pauly, was in the audience. Thus, such offers should be extended carefully.
