Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Henry Purcell

Theme and seven variations, closing with a fugue (8th variation). The theme is the Cold Genius' bass aria from Purcell's opera King Arthur (c. 1691). Variations are in a variety of styles, traditional and contemporary. Contemporary effects and extended techniques include wind or colored noise, and singing through horn while playing. There is a marked spot for an optional performer cadenza.
