Variations on Chinese Folk Songs

Derived from ancient Chinese folk songs, this work was written for a High School band to perform when touring in China. The piece modernizes the ancient music by using Western form. In the 4th movement, a traditional Chinese song is written in the style of a Sousa march. The fanfare movement is highlighted by traditional Chinese drumming.
