One day I was waiting on my young daughter to finish a ballet class. They were dancing to a waltz in E minor with an insistent A# in the melody. You know, I thought, that A# means nothing but trouble. So, I made my own waltz featuring this anomaly. The style is frankly romantic (tonal) but with selected delectable dissonances. Different keys and tunes ensue, but the melody with the raised fourth scale degree keeps returning. My piece has nothing to do with a rhinoceros; I just thought it was a cool word to have in a title.
