We Gather Together

Written for the Cantus Vocal Ensemble this setting is available in several voicings and features original material that helps this standard hymn feel both traditional yet fresh. The text celebrates diversity and gives an intentional nod to Native and Indigenous peoples. The setting begins with a fanfare, then moves through a dance-like triple meter which later contrasts with a hemiola figure in the bass. Originally a cappella, an optional piano or organ accompaniment supports the chorus.
