I am pleased to present " We Will Remember Them"," Lux Aeternam." This was written shortly after our son died in 2013 of a heart condition. A good friend of his died the following Spring. In light of the many deaths due to Covid 19 and recent deaths due to violence, I wanted to make this piece available. I used one verse from "For the Fallen" by Robert Laurence Binyon which was written during World War I and also the Flu of 1918. The verse begins, "They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old." Since the verse is short, I began and ended with one sentence from the Requiem Mass, Lux Aeternam luceat eis, Domine" May everlasting light shine upon them, O lord. This piece is written to those we have lost of all ages, but especially to those who have left us too soon.
Sung here by The Texas Voices directed by Jim Loeffler
(There have been a few harmonic changes in the a cappella section since the recording)
