Perfect for the end of Holy Week worship services and collegiate level concerts, the beloved spiritual "Weepin' Mary" has, from an early age, been one that has moved me. In my research of this spiritual's history, I was first drawn to the arrangement by early 20th century composer H. T. Burleigh. His setting of the same spiritual lasts no more than one verse. Further research, however, has shown that there are indeed additional verses that were connected to the early 1800's hymnal compilation entitled "Southern Harmony" and are set to the tune WEEPIN' MARY (which is different than the melody of the spiritual).
