"When Summer Sings" began as an inspiration from the new movie, Maestro. As I watched the film, I was reminded of Bernstein's internal struggles of wanting to be a performer, a composer, or a conductor. He never felt he could do all three.
I have often struggled with this as well (imposter syndrome is real!), but obviously not to his same caliber. The piece began to take form as a sort of self-portrait - a longing for all things musical. I still struggle with not measuring up as a director, or as a composer, or as a performer, but every day and becoming comfortable and proud of the musician that I am. I hope you will enjoy - "When Summer Sings."
"If summer doesn't sing in you then nothing sings in you. And if nothing sings in you, then you can't make music."
