When the Sun Vanishes, is an EASY moderately paced ballad for concert band referring to the need of light to survive on Earth; symbolically, the sun resonates the same as needing special people in our lives that we revolve around daily to either survive and/or provide enlightenment and joy. In 10 billion years, the sun will vanquish of its fuel source, resulting in a sudden loss of light, heat, and life (something that is taken for granted daily); that is the symbolic equivalent to losing someone very important we love and cherish everyday. I hope you and your students find an important meaning to playing this piece as much as it meant for me writing this score. It is dedicated to anyone who has lost their own sun in their lives.
