Where Does The Sidewalk End? was
written as a token of appreciation to Where the Sidewalk Ends by the great
Shel Silverstein. Shel Silverstein and his poetry books were incredibly
impactful on me growing up are something that I will always hold close to my
heart. Because of this I like to try my best to implement Shel's style of
poetry writing and illustrations into my style of writing, that being that it
is wacky, weird, discombobulated, and fragmented. Think of each section,
sometimes vastly different in style, as being a new poem, every minor 2nd as
being a funny illustration rather than something more sinister, and every
section with a more somber or evil tone still having some humor and light
heartedness inherit to it. Where Does The Sidewalk End?'s arch looks like
somewhat of a smattering of different weird and wacky stories ending on one
that follows a protagonist slowly walking towards where the sidewalk ends;
where it is bleak and rainy, slowly stomping and slowing pace to the complete
edge of where the sidewalk ends.
