This version of Why Don't You Do Right? was recorded in 1942 by Peggy Lee during her stay with the Benny Goodman band and she made it her own. Goodman's chart has been faithfully transcribed here, including all the clarinet licks and solos, but the brass has been expanded from the original six to eight. The sax parts are written for solo clarinet, alto, 2 tenors and baritone, although an extra alto sax part is included for more flexibility in the section. The brass ranges are moderate, and aside form the clarinet solos there are no surprises, making the chart very playable.
