Windmills: Music for String Quartet

Windmills was inspired by quartets from such composers as Ravel, Debussy, Faure, Borodin, Tchaikovsky and Dvorak as well as newer works by Caroline Shaw, Chris Thile and others. All four movements are included in this set. Movement I. Airglow is a flowing opening inspired by the tonal colors and textures of the impressionist composers. Movement II. Labyrinth explores many colors and emotions through a mournful theme. Movement III. Mirage is a lively play between 3/4 and 6/8 that creates intriguing cinematic textures. Movement IV. First Light presents a hopeful theme that begins in Eb Major and evolves through texture and meter changes before returning to its home key of C Major.
