Beneath the quiet forest floor lies a bustling, vibrant, and largely unseen world: the mycelium network. This intricate, subterranean web of fungal threads is one of the most remarkable biological structures on our planet--one which allows trees to share resources, warn each other of disease or insect attacks, and even nurture their offspring.
Inspired by the interconnectedness of the “Wood Wide Web,” this piece features a constant trading and interweaving of melodic material. No single instrument dominates the melodic narrative for long. Instead, ideas are tossed back and forth, reflecting the decentralized and collaborative nature of mycelial networks.
May this sonic journey transport you into the wondrous and vital world of the mycelial network, inspiring a deeper appreciation for the unseen forces that sustain our planet.
