Wrong Chain

Wrong Chain explores the resonance of the open strings of the violin. The piece arranges a series of chords derived from every way in which two strings may be stopped and two strings are left open. A path through this chain was decided through a set of rules based on common tones and voice leading. This series of chords was then realized in the work the same way in which a baroque composer may realize the repeated series of chords from a chaconne.
