piano at daybreak: 25 new age hymn arrangements

This collection of hymn arrangements combines two of my musical influences. In my youth, I was drawn to the serene, improvisatory quality of new age piano music playing on our family's stereo, and the pieces I learned in this style, as well as my own improvisations, were frequently requested by family and friends. Later, as a professional musician playing and directing for churches, I became familiar with the many wonderful melodies created and adapted for congregational song.

The collection began with my adaptation of "Going Home," the spiritual based on the Largo movement in Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9. While not found in many hymnals, I have played it myself at memorial services, and hope others will be uplifted by it in a similar setting.

On the whole, the soft dynamics lend themselves to an intimate performance setting, but for service playing I might project the sound more as needed. I hope you enjoy playing these arrangements as much as I did creating them!
