A dramatic setting of the 15th-century hymn "Veni, Veni Emmanuel" ("O Come, O Come Emmanuel") that depicts the progression from darkness to light, despair to hope, found in the modern English translations of the text found in most hymnals. Each variation becomes successively brighter and builds to a uplifting, victorious climax. The work also includes various "cameo" appearances of other Advent and Christmas related hymns, such as "What Wondrous Love Is This," "What Child Is This" ("Greensleeves"), and near the end, a fanfare flourish on "Crown Him with Many Crowns."
This is the version for symphonic band (no chorus). There is also a version available for band and chorus with optional organ. The choral books, both SATB and SSAA, are available separately.
Versions for orchestra and orchestra-chorus are available from the composer's website at https://jesseayers.com/catalog/orchestra/
