Blanco y Azul

This delightful danza was one of many written by gifted Puerto Rican pianist and composer Jose Ignacio Quinton. Elegant and graceful, the melody is engaging and the gentle rhythmic accompaniment does make one want to dance! It begins in D major with two distinct melodic sections. A segue to G major features a variation on the melody in the fours with a lovely contrapuntal line in the treble before returning to the A section in D major. With a few exceptions, the foundational bass is gently malleted throughout. This is a 2022 Distinctly Bronze West selection.
