Boatmen's Dance
Originally written for banjo, this song tells the story of some fun-loving and bawdy boatmen on the Ohio River. Capturing the authentic spirit of the tune, this arrangement features a variety of stopped techniques while the engaging melody and countermelodies are featured throughout the bell range. The addition of foot stomps, handclaps, tambourine, and wood block convey the lively dancing of the boatmen. Ship's bell or foghorn are suggested as fun options! Written at Level 3, this piece becomes a fun challenge for Level 4 groups if rung at tempo!
