There have been many violin concertos, and there have been many pieces for school orchestra, but there has never been a concerto for school orchestra featuring the orchestra teacher! However, the most important feature of this piece is the interplay between the teacher and students. The concerto provides a rare opportunity for an orchestra to interact with their teacher and for a teacher to model concerto playing in a manner that is creative and satisfying. It would also be a fun piece to program for a pops, community or symphonic concert.
