Jascha Gurewich introduced his Saxophone Concerto in 1923, in a
much-publicized and well-received concert in New York, accompanied by his
wife Ida on piano. Despite being titled a "concerto," there is no
indication that the piece was ever orchestrated.
This orchestration by Daniel Powers dates from 2022, shortly after the
concerto entered the public domain. It was preceded by a version for
saxophone and wind orchestra in 2021.
