Five Finger Frolics
Originally released in 1988, Five Finger Frolics is now available in a new updated edition which includes larger print by Nouvelle Music Publishing, LLC. The delightful collection of twelve Middle C position compositions explore a range of expectations for the young performer including two-note and three-note slurs in Square Dance, Indian Drums and Gentle Snowfall, syncopation found in El Burro, Tempo changes in Tic-Tock Turtle, performing in 3/4 time (Waltzing Hearts), staccato requirements in Rain on the Roof and legato playing in Tick-Tock Turtle. While most of the works explore both legato and staccato, further demands include articulations and dynamics to guide young readers in phrasing. As with many books for young readers, the large print will make this collection easy on the eyes for the elementary level pianist. The book is plastic coil bound, as most books now are from Nouvelle Music, for laying flat when open to any page on a piano.
