Joe Schaefer has a real handle on the modern funk/rock groove, and his Funkmania is sure to please. The great sax writing keeps the piece growing after the melody is stated, setting up the solo sections which can be opened up to include any player. A special feature is the a cappella sax section trading with the brass after the solos. Plus, there's room for an extended drum solo at the end if you wish. With its medium tempo, it's very playable, lots of fun and just cooks. Don't miss this one!
