"A Sailor's Hymn" is a lyrical arrangement based on the well-known U.S. Navy Hymn, "Eternal Father, Strong to Save." This piece provides young musicians the opportunity to develop expressive playing, focusing on smooth, connected phrasing and dynamic contrast. Through this hymn-like setting, students can explore tone production and the emotional depth of their instruments, building a foundation for future musical growth. I was honored to have been asked to create this arrangment for Mrs. Heather Meelheim and the Lacey Township School's 5th Grade Band. This was the music program that I grew up in, and to be able to give music to the students in the very program that helped me fall in love with music means a great deal.
