I moved to Seattle from a small town in Ireland 30 years ago. I lived first just off I-90 on the East side and driving into Seattle on a nice day you are hit with that stunning view of the city and the Olympic Mountains in the background! I often felt compelled to blast some of my favorite music in the car on that drive! There are lots of amazing views around the city, from Kerry Park, or West Seattle looking back at the city, or driving south on I-5 near Boeing Field when the Mountain is out! For "A Seattle Overture", each segment of the piece tries to recapture some of the awe and wonder I felt as a fresh immigrant to Seattle 30 years ago. If you made a highlight reel of some of the great Seattle landscapes, maybe this piece could be the soundtrack! Makes a great concert opener or closer! Rousing brash fanfares make the audience sit up and pay attention.
