Abblasen - Band Director's Mega Pack

This Mega Pack includes all woodwind and brass instruments. When CBS Sunday Mornings premiered January 28th, 1979 it began just as it has since, with Gottfried Reiche’s trumpet fanfare Abblasen. The piece is derived from Elias Gottlob Haussmann’s 1727 portrait of Reiche and the manuscript in his left hand. This portrait can be found in the Stadtgeschichtliches Museum in Leipzig. This edition achieves two goals: preserving the iconic performances of Smithers, Severinsen, and Marsallis while providing this short piece in all twelve keys for all standard band and orchestra instruments. This way musicians of various abilities can perform this historic work in their best-sounding key while challenging themselves with the rest.
