This beautiful chorale closes Dubois' much performed holy week cantata. It has been adapted for early adolescent choirs and even though it is written in four parts (SSCB or SSAB ), it is quite easy to learn and perform. Although up-tempo and rhythmic pieces are automatically favorites of these young singers, when they commit to this piece, it's sheer beauty captures them immediately. It is a great composition to teach homophonic texture and legato singing. For groups who do not want to attempt the Latin, an English translation is available. Or another option is to sing the piece in Latin and repeat it in English. It is often sung SSAB by adult choirs with more women than men. It is a one-rehearsal piece for any worship service benediction during holy week but especially for Easter Sunday.
