Almost the Blues

This Mike Carubia original combines elements of swing with funky rock styles. Set at a moderate tempo groove with plenty of unison lines, this chart uses call-and-response passages stating the melody. The solos are based on two chords in the friendly key of B-flat, and two eight-measure ensemble sections follow the solos leading to a big ending. Including an optional flute part, Almost the Blues is very upbeat and accessible for developing groups. Totally unique and very cool!
